ERGOMARINE CONCEPT
Design and production of new products for a modern, ergonomic, productive and sustainable aquaculture, starting with oyster farming and extending to other species of marine life. Example: oyster cages
BUTTONS
Ergomarine products, services and practices are based on Ergomarine Concept. Ergomarine Concept determines the requirements every product or aquaculture (oysters for now) system must accomplish to be validated as TOP of production. In the case of oyster farming, there are two main players: Man and Oyster. We must consider both together... and other factors, like materials, ecosystem, SDG, circular economy, animal wellfare, natural capital, etc.
Ergonomics as a priority. Searching for improved productivity. Plastics engineering and materials (mainly PEAD sustainable material) as a prioritary. Disposability of materials policy aligned with circular economy (products duly identifyed for traceability, easy to dissassemble, follow-up). User experience design. Building bridges with research centers like CIIMAR or IPMA/EPPO and others and productive side. Agriculture as a benchmark. Ergonomics contribute to higer productivity, less labor, decent work more security, social inclusion, SDG14...

Concrete Application
Oyster cages, floaters, connecting pieces. Ergomarine floating systems ("rafts") are being used (still experimental, with good results) for example in Figueira da Foz and Setubal in fish (dourada, robalo, corvina etc.) farming tanks (esteiros) and at EPPO. Oysters are growing well together with fish, very good "chair index", good shell, good "Imai-Sakai" index. Also suspended tidal farming in long lines is being made with Ergomarine "paniers" sold to France. Ergomarine intends to respond to australian and asiatic solutions and is presenting new disruptive and more productive solutions. Some are patented.

Market Potential
Portugal first, in dialog with near producers and validation , extending next to near countries and next, the whole world. Besides, iterative innovation will extend the market for better solutions and other species and IMTA.
Ergomarine products and communication strategy are just in the begining. We are selling to France and Portugal, for now, but we are not in a hurry in order to get the product and the concept more mature. Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Africa are the first potential next markets.

Sustainable Development Goals
ZERO HUNGER
Food production, new jobs, local farming.
INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Iterative innovation "ad aeternum", plastics industry. Promoting a new atitude towards aquaculture. Extending Ergomarine concept to fish farming, other species of bivalves, sea urchins, floating islands, freshwater aquaculture, aquaponics... Benchmarking from agricultural practices.
SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
Cities can be supplied locally by local oystter communities.
RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
Low trophic animals, low carb emissions. Ergomarine plastic products are identifyed for traceability and collection at life end. Not selling a product but participating in the value chain to the end of life and follow-up.
LIFE BELOW WATER
Oysters and bivalves are low trophic animals; also filterers. Very appropriate for IMTA.
