GOLBAL WATER DATA PROVIDER
The first commercial solution for water quality data integration (in-situ + space data + predictive models) with sensors maintenance free and data-based fee subscription.
BUTTONS
To move from a reactive to a preventive decision-making approach regarding water quality monitoring and environmental impact assessments in rivers, lakes and oceans we need in-situ data, satellite data and numerical modelling. UNDERSEE developed a compact and easy to install in-situ water data acquisition system (UNDERSEE_water) and a user-friendly cloud platform (UNDERSEE_cloud) combined with space data and predictive models, which enables the spread of Ships of Opportunity and Precision Aquaculture projects in a large scale.
UNDERSEE solution allows users to monitor and predict water quality changes in rivers, lakes or oceans, without dealing with sensors maintenance. We provide an end-to-end service with an integrated offering of hardware, software, installation, maintenance and customer support, based on a Connected Product-as-a- Service model where customers subscribe for the usage of the product (data-based fee) and automated decision-making tools.

Concrete Application
Users as Research Centers, Environmental Agencies, Municipalities or Aquaculture Producers can implement our solution in preventive decision-making strategy regarding sudden water quality changes, turning the received information in actionable data. For example, for coastal and estuarine monitoring, real-time water data can be collected from existing vessels and users automatically receive early warnings of water quality changes.
Open-net pen aquaculture producers can prevent production losses and optimize fish feeding and growth. Among other features, producers can access predictions about dissolved oxygen for the upcoming days and early warnings via SMS or e-mail about possible algae blooms threats or severe oxygen depletion events.

Market Potential
According to Technavio report the total water quality equipment market for coastal and estuarine monitoring and aquaculture monitoring are likely to reach 1.266 M€ by 2021. Since we are providing a service instead of selling water quality sensors and equipment, this analysis is not totally representative of our market size. We are developing a service in an untapped market, so we used a bottom-up market analysis approach to estimate our TAM and SAM for each segment. The estimations are feasible, since we validated our price in each segment, based on yearly recurring revenues for each vessel and for each aquaculture cage installation, which annual fee subscription was validated by relevant market players. The TAM estimated is 2676 M€.

Sustainable Development Goals
GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Early warning systems regarding Harmful Algae Blooms can allow aquaculture production to put in place measures to safeguard fish and human health
CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION
UNDERSEE solution is valuable to maintain water quality at high level in rivers, lakes or oceans
INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
UNDERSEE enables digitalization of aquaculture and environmental monitoring processes
SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
UNDERSEE brings sustainability to aquaculture production by preventing fish losses due to sudden water quality changes
RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
UNDERSEE enables aquaculture producers to monitor and control the production effects in the marine environment
CLIMATE ACTION
Chlorophyll a (measured in real-time from UNDERSEE_water) levels are an indirect measure of phytoplankton activity which is the primary production at the base of the marine food web and the main driver of biogeochemical processes in ocean ecosystems. Marine phytoplankton account for approximately 50% of the global biological uptake of CO2 which links back to carbon dioxide levels, ocean acidificationand climate change
LIFE BELOW WATER
Coastal eutrophication is detrimental to the marine environment when excessive amounts of nutrients enter the water due to terrestrial runoff. Chlorophyll a measurements are an important component of Indicator 14.1.1: Index of Coastal Eutrophication
